Darkness Falls again...

It's back, but in a different location and under new management. I know both and happen to think this will be a well run event. Have at it.

vicarious thrills

Kinkfest was in Portland over the weekend. I didn't go but know a few people who did, so I'll have to settle for anecdotal reports. If I get any particularly nice details, I may put them here for all to experience at a safe, if a bit dull, distance. Maybe I'll carve out the time to go next year.

Count Boogie & Co. classic...

This really is a great piece of work and a lot of fun, regardless of your, uhm, experiences. If you haven't seen it yet, get on it:

Foot Fetish Guys Anti Creepy Training Video

Heck, it makes me want to go play at Threshold, these people are so cool.

dairy prices, oyster bars, the sex industry...

I've often said that there's plenty of money -- there is always plenty of money -- it's just that the distribution sucks. That's not a revelation, of course. It's just another way of saying how these things go. Still, distribution surprises me now and again anyway.

The State educational systems here are, at the mercy of all governmental budgets, various sorts of wrecks. The local transit authority is a travesty. The City is deep in it and looking for more ways to cut. It isn't as if people outside of computer industries (again) are finding more work opportunities than they can take, it isn't as if inflation continues unnoticed -- gawd, gallon of milk or a gallon of gas? You pick. -- but there does seem to be a lot of money getting tossed around lately into relatively, uhm, non-critical ways. For example, in my market, restaurants and cafes have been popping up like mushrooms. Really good mushrooms. The smell of venture capital is in the air... (again)

I've been told the pro domme biz is inherently a bit squirrely anyway. How it rises and falls relative to prevailing economic conditions isn't quite as clear as one might guess. I'm not sure porn has been hurting so much because of the larger economy as it has from technological shifts -- my euphemistic way of saying "theft". I'm wondering, does one need sexual satisfaction enough during economic hard times to be willing to budget some money for it anyway because, heck, times are hard and stress is high, or do those expenditures get put off until you feel truly flush? Are there even cut and dry answers for these kind of questions?

Does some of the dough from web company IPOs end up helping to pay the rent for porn studios? Does any of that speculative money, a bit of that revenue made from selling animated cows, a few bucks from ads placed to catch one of your "friends" interest go to pay for web servers streaming kink parties live -- ? Are the four or five new pricey restaurants in the 'hood a good sign for the sex industry? Really, are oysters good for the libido and the dungeon?

While this new bubble lasts, I rather hope so. Sure, I'd like to see some of it go to say, public transit, but it doesn't work that way. I don't have a car, but I'd still like to be able to afford milk. Likewise, I'm guessing there are one or two pro dommes around here that would like to be able pay what is probably already exhorbitant rent and still be able to afford, say, a half gallon of milk and a bus ride.

Alice In Bondage Land

I've been the video camera operator for AliceInBondageLand.com for some time now. Recently, we started shooting in a High Definition format. The image quality improvement is pretty apparent.

SF Citadel

The local public dungeon here in San Francisco, SF Citadel, has had to go through another change of location. Historically, this hasn't happened often, but, as I figure, it is San Francisco, one the hotbeds of occasional venture capital fueled real estate inflation. In any case, the Citadel has had to be on the move again. At first, it seemed to be working out reasonably well.

Suffice to say that, after a lot of resource expenditures, the in-process transition into a new location was aborted and the organization is again searching for a new facility site. If you or anyone else you know might have ideas for this, particularly those who are adept at navigation City real estate mazes, contact Phil and August via the Citadel.

Naturally, there is an SF Citadel group in FetLife.

New kink blog based in San Francisco

I had one of those "duh" moments today, so I've fired up this new blog for bdsm, kink and other things related however tangentially.

While this is based in the San Francisco kink scene, it won't be limited to the Bay Area. If you're in Santa Fe, Mito City, Wichita, Boston, Memphis...wherever...do feel free to post up, let me know about something interesting or just plain fun.

Yes, I am active in the local bdsm scene. I have friends in the kink community, I go to parties, all that IRL stuff. Also, I shoot bondage porn video for a domme producer/on-camera talent. More on all that later...
